I will be talking bout benefits of studying in local universities. Well, this is my first presentation in my university time and wish me good luck :D
A very good morning to Madam Kulwant and fellow friends.Today, I want to talk about my topic that is “Benefits of Studying in Local Universities”
As you all know, that many local universities were built in our country. For example, University Malaya, University Kebangsaan Malaysia, not to forget our very own university, International Islamic University of Malaysia and a lot more local universities all around Malaysia.
And nowadays, many students choose to further their studies in local universities rather than studying in international universities. This is because studying in local universities gives a lot of benefits to students.
There are a lot of benefits studying in local university but I will touch them and divided them into 4 main points.
Firstly, studying locally will help lessen financial burden of the parents. For example, if a child want to further his/ her studies in local university, he/she will use few money compare to expenses if he/ she studying in foreign university. He/ She will need a lot of money to study abroad especially studying in modern and western countries which cost a lot of money due to different currencies of money. Parents also can save their daily-lifestyle budget if their children choose to study in local universities. They can do savings rather than spending a lot of money on their children’s education in international universities because studying in local university save cost a lot more rather than studying in foreign university.
Secondly, studying in local university gives feeling sense of belonging to students. If a student studying in local universities, it is near to their home town or if their university is quite far from their home, they will at least have been to the city where their university situated once and it gives convenience to students. Meanwhile, if a student studying in foreign university, they will feel out of place because it might be their first time experience staying there and it might take their time to adjust themselves comfortable living in the new place. Besides, they can always come back to their home easily in case of emergency like death of their family members. So, studying in local university gives a lot of convenience and feeling sense of belonging to students.
Thirdly, the same style of living gives benefit for students who studying in local university. It is easy to communicate with others like talking with lecturers and friends if studying locally rather than studying in foreign country. Besides, if studying in local university, students might not being carried away or influenced by negative culture especially bad cultures from western country like wild party, free sex and etc. Meanwhile, if a student choose to study locally especially in Malaysia, it will prevent them from get influenced to these bad culture because studying in local university is in our country that still practise good values and family members can still look after a student because they can still meet each other frequently rather than a student studying in foreign university.
Finally, local university also offers the same courses like offered in foreign university. We can find established courses offered in local universities like law, accounting, engineering, medical studies, English studies and many more programmes. Sometimes local university also offers courses that teach foreign languages like Japanese, French, German and many more languages which enable students to learn them locally than flying abroad to study those languages in their own native country. They teach the same modules sometimes even better than foreign university does. Besides, limited places to study overseas make students prefer studying locally. They need to apply for scholarship which is very difficult to get and only smart students will be able to study in foreign universities after attending interviews. So, it is very hard to book a place to study in foreign university and studying in local university is not bad at all because local universities offers the same thing as foreign universities does.
As a conclusion, there are a lot more benefits studying in local university rather than foreign university. Besides, some of top Malaysia’s local university have made it to top 100 top- universities all around the world and for me, this is all depend on ourselves to strive hard to get success no matter where do we study. Like the saying says, where there is a will, there is a way.
With that, thank you.
Hmm, so I went to this GPDP and sign up at the mosque and I got a place in a group that is..er, I don’t remember actually :P Lucky, that I have Syafiqah who got the same group with me, at east, I got a company.Yipee !!! Then, all of us went inside the mosque hall attending talk which I didn’t pay attention at all! Then, we were divided to different classes and went to our group venues. And we were placed inside classrooms in block C and I’ve got a male fasci. If I not mistaken, his name was Afif. Dunno much bout him, though :P There were bout 25 of us and most of girls conquered the whole class. Then, we had this session, first impression session that we will passed a paper that had written by our names and I will tell you guys what did I got. And it is based on our view and first impression towards somebody and it’s fun, I suppose :P
GPDP
I don’t know what this GPDP is all about but every first year students have to attend this program. Hmmm, I felt quite pissed off because I won’t be able to go back home that weekend and stayed in campus in weekend. Gosh, so with the most “heaviest” heart, I manage to force myself to go for that program. Hmm, some of the tentative of this program is doing “qiamulail” which is our “ibadah as muslims early in the morning like 4 a.m? “ We will receive fascilators from IIUM main campusin Gombak and we will have activities like listening talks and attending to group dynamics and etc. So, let me tell you what happened during this activity based on my own experience.
