Absolutely worth every cent. Quiet beach, clear-ish water, and great snorkeling opportunities. This resort is at the end of the row, has unspoiled beach and lovely cats, chickens and geese roaming around.

Resort was rustic and there was some new construction near the jetty which churned up some sand on the resort beach but other beaches were 2 min walk away.

Pulau Besar is located at Mersing, Johor. In this island, I’ve noticed 4 resorts, Aseania, D'coconut, Mirage and Bayu Lestari Resort. We chose Mirage  Island Resort because:

a) The price range

b) I’ve been to Mirage back in 2010 and I had a great experience staying there which makes me wants to return back here.

The journey from Negeri Sembilan to Mersing about less than 4 hours. Mersing is a small town and we had lunch which serves local Malay food at the jetty.  Mirage provides all-inclusive packages (transport to/from the island, accommodation, and almost all meals). The boat was the best part for me-only 30 minutes speedboat.

Once we reached the island you may found a crystal clear beach water and lots fish swimming-really amazing and wonderful.

We initially booked the A-Frame type for 4 days 3 night (somehow we wished that we could stay longer)for our Honeymoon trip but since I’m the returning guest, Mirage has provided me a free upgrade to Seaview Room. Woohoo !!!

What I really like about Mirage: the staff are friendly, during lunch and dinner time...they will prepare all the food for a two of us and is very delicious and scrumptious amount. The full board package starts with dinner so you might want to take your own lunch at Mersing Jetty but you can still order from their cafe. Food served is delicious and tasty. If you need hot water, coffee, Milo and tea are provided at the cafe all time and it is free. You can enjoy it as much and as many time as you want.

The room was cosy, got fan plus air conditioner. The bathroom is spacious, water pressure is okay, hot water heater but you need to bring your own toiletries as they only provide you with a soap & towels. The room and the place itself were quite clean.
