Afternoon Tea @ The Drawing Room, the Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Sunday, November 25, 2018

Walking into the Drawing Room at The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur tells us that colonial heritage that speaks its volume! We enjoyed being taken back in time. The surrounding also provides the same feeling of attachment to history. It was a classy affair and we totally enjoyed our so called 'honeymoon 2.0' there.

The staff were wonderful, the hotel room is perfect, well-appointed, very clean and yeah, we absolutely love the coffee machine.

Ok back to the Afternoon tea. We arrived quite early (after check-out) and technically standby-ed at 2pm (even though we are well aware that our appointment starts at 3pm) but the waiter was kind enough for letting us in around 2.45 pm.

We initially intended to book our Afternoon Tea at the Orchid Room but it was fully booked! Then, we opted for the Drawing Room which we thought its more private compared to Colonial Café.

Lovin' the ambiance
Once we entered the Drawing Room, we were brought to the 2-seater table nearby to window overlooking the garden (more like bush). The waiter who was helpful named Ajeesh served us with Darjeeling Tea. Since its free flow, both of us ended finishing 3 pots of tea haha.

Anyway, the tea time schedule is reserved from 3pm to 6pm only. Since we entered the room quite early, we left at around 4.30pm since the Drawing Room is pretty quiet and cold.

For RM 90nett, the afternoon tea comes with a choice of tea or coffee, 3 tier level tray consisted of savory sandwiches, scones with jam & clotted cream and assorted desserts on top. We were also being served a separate tray apart from the tier that serves savory food like chicken tandoori.

All were good in their own right, but I particularly enjoyed the scones. I thought they were pretty good – buttery yet light, and delicious with lashings of cream and jam.
All in, I rather enjoyed the experience at The Drawing Room. While I wouldn’t say it was the best afternoon tea I’ve tried, it is one of the better ones in Kuala Lumpur at the moment. If you’re into savory treats, this would be a good place to consider. It is definitely not cheap at RM 90 per pax, but considering the items and the ambiance you get, I’d say it’s OK.. Definitely not a place you can go on a regular basis, unless you make a ton of money or your daddy does.

Ambiance: 9 /10
Price: 5.5/10
Food: 7/10 (pork free)
Verdict: Pretty good afternoon tea. Lovin’ the ambiance and the service.
