My Very Own Merisik Day
Tuesday, December 26, 2017According to Malay custom, the "Merisik" (in English means "spying") is a tradition whereby the boy's family went to the girl's house and met her parents. ... Back in old days, the boy and the girl usually never know each other (source from Google.com)
Nowadays, merisik may not be conducted as the same way in the old days as most couples already know each other well before marriage is considered. Alternatively, the meeting may just be a formality for the in-laws to get to know each other, and to set a date for the engagement
So, on 23rd of December 2017, I've been officially "dirisik" by Weatherman and his family.
Overall, it was a good ceremony. A very intimate ceremony whereby for the first time, I'm meeting his family members. It was kind of awkward but everything involving marriage & stuff can be queer and exciting at the same times.
The ceremony started with the spokesperson from Weatherman's family asking queer questions..like "do I like Weatherman bla bla" does he likes me as well. From his side, they brought the Habib ring which we've bought last month and gave to my Mak as a sign of acceptance of this visit.
We ended this pleasant yet memorable ceremony with hi-tea and got to know the family members from both party.
