Perth Part 1 (Caversham and King's Park)
Monday, December 24, 2012I was in Perth last November. This is my first visit to this city.
Perth city is actually located at Western Australia. It is the most isolated city in the world(that's what they claimed actually!!) Perth is extremely popular with Malaysians as it's only a short 6 hours flight from here
Got the cheap air tickets from Airasia... cost RM 3000 for 4 of us including all the baggage fee. Pretty cheap eh?
As we walked out of the arrival lounge we were warmly welcomed by Pak cik Nasir(my uncle) who then drove us in his car to his residence at Kwinana. Kwinana is a suburb area which is almost an hour drive from Perth City.
Pak cik Nasir picked us up using his car. This kind of car is famous in Australia.
Pak Cik Nasir's house, a beautiful spacious house with 3 large bed-rooms, an office room, a smaller and large lounge, a well-furnished kitchen, and a large open patio for cooking and dinning to go with. He lives with his wife, Auntie Elin who's from Indonesia and their only daughter, Bella. Upon arrival at their house, Auntie Elin was quick to prepare a Malaysian breakfast for us – fried curry puffs and tea.

This morning, Pak Cik Nasir drove us around to see the suburb of Kwinana and then towards Caversham Wildlife park, which is a really popular tourist destinations especially if you want to get close and personal with some of Australia's famous indigenous wildlife. They have a full programme ranging from: Meet the Koalas to Feed the Kangaroos to a Farm show, plenty to keep the family busy and happy. First we had a walk through an open kangaroo park and went to the koala enclosure.

Apparently Mak's colleague, Puan Tengku and her family are visiting Perth just like us. What a small world!
Next, we went to the farm show, which was super entertaining. You get to see a sheep being sheared, try your hand at cracking a stock whip, milk a cow.The best of the best is you get to see sheep dogs mustering the sheep. They also picked up some volunteers to join the performance like trying hand at swing a billy, which is a technique Aussie sheep herders used to mix their tea. The billy is actually a container of water which you spin upside down without spilling by the principles of centripetal and centrifugal forces. If done properly, nothing is spill from the can!! I wonder if that has ever happen before. You wouldn't want a soaking wet tourists!!

After all that, there were still things to do in the wildlife park. We walked through the farmyard and met more animals from goats to chickens. There were so some birds of prety, joeys (baby kangaroos), more koalas, dingoes, newts, to some animals that I can't remember what they are.
Next, we went to King's Park a famous tourist spot in Perth. Kings Park which is located on the western edge of the city. It stands over 1000 acre in size and has some lovely views over the Swan River and the city, so definitely worth a visit.
Wonderful view of Perth City

This is the end of part 1 of Perth Trip Travelogue. The next part will contain the Pinnacles trip we went on, which I spent most of it barfing away. Till the next time, G'day Mate!
