Anyway today we went to explore Perth City. We travelled to Perth City via train. The journey from Kwinana train station (where Pak Cik Nasir's house is situated) to Perth train station took us about 40 minutes and cost 10 Australian Dollars including return tickets per pax.

We started our journey as early as 7 a.m. Even the shops were still closed because it was too early.

We tried to search for the Western Australia Museum. Thankfully, Perth City Council provided useful informations including maps almost everywhere around the city which is really easy for independent tourists like us.

Fremantle or known by locals as Freo is a city located near Swan River, Perth. According to a source from the internet says that Fremantle is named after Captain Fremantle, the captain of the HMS Challenger who first took possession of the land when he arrived in the waters off the Western Australian coast.  Fremantle is a port city located about 30 minutes south of Perth and is a very multicultural city. There are loads of choices for alfresco dining, pub dining or simply coffee and cake at one the cafes.


Fremantle is full of history and is surrounded by many heritage buildings and to its credit has handled the modern changes over the years with ease.  There is a beautiful mixture of the old with the new and the people of Fremantle love it I somehow thinks that there is some Spanish influence in Fremantle's building architecture which makes the town is one of the most beautiful town that I've ever visited.

After our whale watching trip, the boat dropped us at Fremantle harbour (the opposite of E-Shed Market, Fremantle). So we ventured Fremantle city all by ourselves by foot.

Imagine being within feet of some of the most graceful, rare mammals in the world. We had the chance to do some whale watching while we were in Perth. You can see humpback and southern right whales cavorting in North Fremantle area as they head for warm waters to mate and breed. We were based in Perth city to be exact, a jetty near Barrack Street which is 20 minutes walking distance from Perth train station.

The company we went with was called Oceanic Cruises. The whale watching trip departs from Barrack Street Jetty for 2 times daily. The cost is $80 for adult and $50 for children ages 4 to 17 years old. They use a 55 ft purpose built whale watching vessel. A word of warning: it can get quite bumpy out in the water. I took some balms for motion sickness and was still got seasick and was almost throwing up almost 3/4 of the time we were out on the water.
